We Offer a Variety of Services to Care for Your Pet

As a full service veterinary clinic in Aberdeen, SD, we proudly offer a wide range of preventative, general healthcare and diagnostic services, in addition to professional dental and surgical services. From vaccines, spays and neuters and preventative care exams to blood work, x-rays and more, we have your pet covered. We love being able to care for, heal and prevent illness in dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes, and we hope you’ll bring your cherished family member to us for any and all of their medical needs.

What To Expect Durning Your Visit

During your visit, our staff will get a chance to talk to you to see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. The veterinarian will then do a complete physical examination on your pet. Laboratory diagnostics may be recommended if your pet is nearing or of an advanced age. It is always good to have a baseline in case your pet ever becomes ill. The doctor will use this information to look for any potential health concerns, as the goal is to catch any problems before they become major health issues. The sooner we catch a disease process, the easier it is to treat it and possibly undo any damage. Part of your pet’s journey with us will also be monitoring of his or her weight and body conditioning. This will help ensure that we can keep him or her in healthy condition.

If you have any questions or would like more information on how we can care for your pet, please contact us today.

Preventative Medicine

Keep a Check-up Routine

Regular checkups allow us to establish a baseline in your pet’s health and make us aware of any changes that may indicate future problems. We highly recommend bringing your pet in for regular exams. Often times health problems that go undetected can become more serious when left untreated, so checkups are important even when your pet appears healthy.

One of the most important things you can do to ensure your pet lives a long and healthy life is make sure you regularly bring them in to the vet for checkups, testing and vaccinations. And when you choose to bring your pet to Animal Care Clinic, we’ll make the process as easy and affordable as possible for you. Our friendly staff will take the time to put your dog or cat at ease, and do a thorough job inspecting all aspects of their health and wellness. Also, it is a little known fact that pets and their owners must have a current VCPR (Veterinarian/client/patient relationship), which means having had a physical exam/check up, within one year, to be able to receive any prescription products.

Here Are The Main Preventative Care Services You Can Always Count On Animal Care Clinic To Provide:

Health Checks

Just like human beings need regular physical exams, your beloved dog or cat needs them as well. At Animal Care Clinic, we’ll leave no paw unturned and no ear unflapped in our mission to ensure your pet is as healthy as can be.

Spay & Neuter

When you bring a new pet into your family, the first thing on your mind probably isn’t making an appointment for spay or neuter, but this important procedure plays a key role in health and safety for both animals and humans. When you choose to have these procedures done, we’ll make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible before and after the entire process. Animal Care Clinic is the only veterinary clinic in Aberdeen offering laser surgery. With laser surgery, tissue is cauterized as it is cut. This allows for far less bleeding, and sealing of nerve endings, which helps limit pain during recovery.

Vaccinations

There are a variety of diseases which affect our pets and other animals. This makes proper vaccination vital in protecting them from the many types of illnesses they are susceptible to. It is important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations, as well as, provide you with information on any legally required vaccinations for your pet.

At Animal Care Clinic we provide vaccinations, which include a complete physical exam, for your pet. We know that your pet will likely be anxious in an unfamiliar setting, and seeing this can be stressful for you as well. Our calm, professional atmosphere will help to put both you and your pet at ease, and our highly experienced staff will administer the vaccinations quickly and smoothly.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics/Testing

Our hospital provides a wide variety of in-house diagnostic testing, including analyzers for blood samples and urine samples, as well as digital radiography. Any other or specialized testing can be quickly completed at our reference laboratory. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of care possible, and our diagnostic tools help us do that.

Radiography

Our digital X-ray capabilities allow us to locate many injuries and abnormalities your animal may have, in a noninvasive and efficient manner. With over 30+ years of experience, we know how to make your pets comfortable for this procedure, and deliver precise results.

Having a digital x-ray machine allows us to get images of potential injuries or areas of concern almost instantly. Digital radiography provides a level of detail far better than film x-ray, and because of this, can lead to better diagnoses. If consultation is needed with a boarded radiologist, our system can email the images directly, thus providing rapid image evaluation.

Laboratory Testing

There’s nothing more difficult for an animal lover than seeing a pet suffer. When something isn’t right with your dog or cat, you can usually tell right away, but because animals can’t talk to us, it can be difficult to determine exactly what is bothering them. Here at Animal Care Clinic, we are able to take advantage of the latest technology to deliver quick and accurate diagnostic services. Our in-house laboratory provides thorough, fast results that are often the same day. If specialized testing is needed, we are able to send samples via next day air to our reference laboratory, allowing a fast turn around for results.

Surgery

Surgery Protocols

Every surgery comes with risks, but here at the Animal Care Clinic we strive to keep those to a minimum. Each pet’s anesthetic protocol is geared toward his or her particular needs and all precautions are taken to help ensure the safest conditions possible. We also realize that it can be stressful to have your pet undergo surgery. We want to assure you that your pet is in good hands, and that we will do everything to provide the best care possible. We will communicate with you about the things you need to know before, during, and after your pet’s surgery. It is our goal to make the entire process go smoothly, and to eliminate the stress and worry of surgical procedures.

You will be asked at check in if you would like a pre-anesthetic blood work-up done. These tests allow us to have a better grasp on how healthy your pet is internally, and therefore how much risk there may be under anesthetic. While the tests are optional for any pet, we highly recommend them for all pets, especially those over the age of seven.

Other Services

We Offer Additional Services

Microchipping

Every year, thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often. But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping has become a standard procedure, during which a tiny chip is implanted under your pet’s skin. Although these chips do not function as a GPS device, they trace to contact information that can help reunite lost pets with their families.

It is a relatively fast procedure, and is completely safe. This microchip is registered with your pet’s vital information, and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you.

Nutritional Counseling

Obesity is a common problem among pets, as it can be easy to over-feed a pet, especially if they know how to beg. Being overweight is a serious problem for animals, and can cause real health problems as they get older. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and be within a healthy weight range.

Pets’ nutritional needs change as they enter different stages of their lives. The best way to make sure your pet’s needs are being met is to consult with us about a diet that meets the needs of his or her lifestyle.

Grooming Services

If your pet and the groomer have become mortal enemies, we can help. We provide grooming services for only those pets that require sedation. Trips for grooming can be stressful and anxiety generating. This can make future grooming visits even worse. By providing sedation, your pet will be relaxed and comfortable for the entire process. Once finished, the sedation can be reversed and your pet will be ready to go home.

Emergency Services

As we’ve learned over the years, pets rarely get sick at a time that is convenient to their owners’ schedules. For those urgent matters that can occur day and night, we are happy to offer emergency services. If you need emergency help, please call us at 605.229.1691, and follow the prompts. While some emergencies are beyond the capabilities of a general practice, we will do our best to help you. If we are unable to provide the advanced emergency care your pet may need, we are able to refer you to emergency specific clinics in our region.
